Study of two-section composite chain of beads under vertical vibration

We investigated the dynamic properties of a two-section composite chain of beads under vertical vibration.By analyzing the chain’s motion,including phase-shift,mean dilation,center-of-mass displacement,and energy,we found that with different bead arrangements,the chain behaved in different ways.We believe that interaction existing at the interface between bead sections provides the underlying cause.This interaction causes different energy in different arrangements,which leads to different dynamic characteristics.     

Spatial prisoner’s dilemma games with increasing size of the interaction neighborhood on regular lattices

We studied the evolution of cooperation in the prisoner’s dilemma game on a square lattice where the size of the interaction neighborhood is considered. Firstly, the effects of noise and the cost-to-benefit ratio on the maintenance of cooperation were investigated. The results indicate that the cooperation frequency depends on the noise and cost-to-benefit ratio: cooperation reaches a climax as noise increases, but it monotonously decreases and even vanishes with the ratio increasing. Furthermore, we investigated how the size of the interaction neighborhood affects the emergence of cooperation in detail. Our study demonstrates that cooperation is remarkably enhanced by an increase in the size of the interaction neighborhood. However, cooperation died out when the size of the interaction neighborhood became too large since the system was similar to the mean-field system. On this basis, a cluster-forming mechanism acting among cooperators was also explored, and it showed that the moderate range of the neighborhood size is beneficial for forming larger cooperative clusters. Finally, large-scale Monte Carlo simulations were carried out to visualize and interpret these phenomena explicitly.

浓度对薄凹液层胶体悬浮液干燥花样形成的影响

研究了不同浓度下厚度较薄的凹液层胶体悬浮液干燥过程及花样, 利用照相机实时拍摄不同浓度下胶体悬浮液的干燥过程. 结果表明随着浓度的增加, 最终干燥花样圆环宽度增加, 而数目明显减少; 干燥过程分为5阶段, 其中包含两阶段马兰哥尼对流; 对流能够影响悬浮液内胶体颗粒的自组装和薄膜形貌, 第一阶段对流导致薄膜边缘厚、中心薄, 第二阶段对流伴随接触线的钉轧-滑移运动, 导致多重宽环花样形成.     

On time-domain methods for milling stability analysis

As a basic and advanced machining technique,the high-speed milling process plays an important role in realizing the goal of high performance manufacturing.From the viewpoint of machining dynamics,obtaining chatter-free machining parameters is a prerequisite to guaranteeing machining accuracy and improving machining efficiency.This paper gives an overview on recent progress in time domain semi-analytical methods for chatter stability analysis of milling processes.The state of art methods of milling stability prediction in milling processes and their applications are introduced in detail.The bottlenecks involved are analyzed,and potential solutions are discussed.Finally,a brief prospect on future works is presented.

Graphene attracts more and more scientists and researchers owing to its superior electronic,thermal,and mechanical properties.For material scientists,graphene is a kind of versatile building blocks,and considerable progress has been made in recent years.Graphene-based hybrid materials have been prepared by incorporating inorganic species and/or cross-linking of organic species through covalent and/or noncovalent interactions.The graphene-based hybrid materials show improved or excellent performance in various fields.In this review,we summarize the synthesis of graphene and graphene-based hybrid materials,and their applications in energy storage and conversion.
